haul one

I've watched haul videos before and there are a lot of controversies about them. On one hand, viewers want to see where people get there clothes from, what styles the person is enjoying, or what new trends are popping up. On the other hand, viewers see hauls as a form of bragging about what someone can afford.

Personally, I enjoy hauls to a point. I like hauls that are short and sweet, with only a few items. Once there are over 20 items or so, then I start to feel like the person is going a little overboard and may be on the verge of bragging about how much money they have. In the end, everyone is allowed to spend their own money as they please and it is not up to us to judge someone else's situation.

With that in mind, if you don't like the sound of a haul then feel free to skip this lookbook post. I completely understand if hauls are not your favorite. (: I'm posting this because people ask me where I get my clothes from, so I thought I'd share some of my new favorite places. I've been trying not to spend as much money this year, but I think everyone is allowed to splurge a little bit here and there (if that's what they want to do with their money). This was my first shopping trip for 2017 and I am excited about my purchases, so I thought I'd share them with you all. <3

This online shop was introduced to me by YouTuber, Michelle Reed. I absolutely adore her mature and business-like style, so when she mentioned 2020Ave, I knew I had to check it out. Sure enough, I fell in love.

2020Ave has a wide range of clothing options and reminds me a bit like Forever21's website, but I feel like the options are more mature and geared toward a slightly older audience. I love the trends tab they have on their site and was instantly drawn to the denim section.

I absolutely loved their collection of denim pieces and couldn't help but splurge. I had just one denim jacket before, that is tie-dyed, so I thought I'd get some different styles. Plus, they say that denim jackets are always staples.

  • The first one is a basic denim jacket and I figured it would be a simple piece that would last me awhile. I went with the darker shade so it would work well during all seasons. It's a little big, which is perfect for layering in the colder months. I have no doubt that this jacket will be around for awhile.
  • The second denim jacket is black and is a longer style, ending just below my butt. I love this jacket because it's simply different. By that, I mean it's different enough from the basic jacket, but simple enough to be paired just as easily. I think this will be wonderful for throwing over a bathing suit in the summer and bundling up in the fall.
  • Lastly, I went a little crazy and opted for a ripped jacket with ombre coloring. This is definitely a more summery piece and I'm sure I'll put it to good use within the next few months... maybe weeks, if the weather stays beautiful!

All of these jackets are honestly so cute and I cannot wait to put together some awesome looks with these pieces!

My friend, Nina and I were searching for the Buffalo Exchange when we stumbled upon Proper instead. The shop was extremely cute and looked expensive, which is why we were hesitant to go in, out of fear that it would break our banks. We were surprised when the clothes were reasonable. They were obviously more expensive then your typical fast fashion stores like Forever21, but the prices were within reason.

Now, I know I just said I got three denim jackets, but I couldn't help myself. I saw this jacket before the order from 2020AVE shipped and fell in love. PLUS, it was the only one left and the woman working said they only got two in total. So I knew had to snatch it up before someone else. I love the constellations embroidered in white and truly love how one-of-a-kind it feels. Clearly, I'm in love with it. I've already worn it several times and know this is just the beginning of my new obsession.

The second item was another I couldn't help but be drawn too. The color, fabric and turtleneck instantly caught my eye. Once I tried it on, I was hooked and knew I had to get it. Once again, it was the last one there AND it was on clearance. At that point, how couldn't I get it? I love everything about this piece and know it will be perfect for any occasion, from a casual meet-up with friends to a night at the theater.

Well, that's everything! I'd say it was the perfect amount to cure my shopping hunger and just enough to give you a sneak peak into my upcoming posts. I hope you also find some good purchases of your own from these two nifty places.

love, OC
