bundling up with fall layers

It’s really cold here in Minnesota, but that doesn’t stop us from living life. We adapt and bundle up. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of my intense winter clothes here on campus yet… like my winter jacket or boots or even the heavier knitted sweaters. I have a slew of lighter jackets, thin sweaters and just a few booties. So here is an example of what I’ll wear when it’s about 25 degrees. Hopefully this can give you some ideas about how to piece together your fall clothes as the temperature drops (unless you're prepared and have all your winter stuff, then you're a lucky b*tch ;P ).

Being an avid yogi, I’m constantly wearing workout gear. So I love mixing my athletic wear into my daily wardrobe and frequently take part in the “athleisure” trend. Mixing the two different styles is something I love doing and I personally love how it looks. Here I’m wearing a classic pair of Lululemon black leggings and a light pullover hoodie from Target. Layers are key (especially when you don’t have a proper jacket) so I added this light knitted grey cardigan. To top is off I threw on this long grey coat, which I normally wear for more business professional events. But considering it’s pretty long, it adds just a few more inches of warmth then my other coats. To finish off this look I threw on these wedge-tennis shoes. For extra warmth, I added a hat and mittens.

I love this look. It’s a nice mix of comfort and cute. It’s definitely not warm enough for an intense snowball fight or a ski trip, but it is great for walking around campus in this chilly Minnesota weather.

Stay warm this season.
